Ana Jazmin Mercado was born in Jalisco, Mexico and was brought to the U.S. at the young age of 3 years old. She is a proud DACA recipient and daughter of hard working immigrant parents. She graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Contemporary Latino and Latin American Studies from the University of Southern California in 2019. During her time in college, Ana passionately advocated for immigrant rights on and off campus. She volunteered with local organizations such as CARECEN and CHIRLA to provide community members with access to legal services. She also founded and led a student organization on campus, IDEAS at USC, that advocated for the undocumented students in higher education. Before joining Alami Law in March 2020, Ana served as a legal assistant with the USC Gould Immigration Legal Assistance Center and Valdez Law Firm. Ana looks forward to attending law school in the near future in hopes of becoming an immigration attorney.
